System of a Down World Tour

1.10.2026

System of a Down World Tour

INTRODUCTION System of a Down’s 2026 stadium tour featured a substantial Robe moving light package, comprising 128 x iFORTES, 12 x iFORTE LTX FSs and 96 x iESPRITE LTLs for the European leg. Specified for their power, reliability and versatility, the Robe fixtures formed the backbone of Rob Sinclair’s bold architectural lighting concept, implemented and operated on the road by lighting and show director Matt Arthur. The visual look of the tour saw a close alignment between lighting and video. THE BRIEF To deliver serious punch and flexibility across a massive stadium stage while competing with large LED surface areas and supporting the band’s lively and intense live performance. The idea was to utilise large quantities of fewer fixture types to create a strong, coherent and incisive visual language while providing the consistency and reliability needed for international touring. iFORTE LTX FS – ULTIMATE LONG-THROW ROBOSPOT KEY LIGHTING Position Of the 12 x iFORTE LTX FS fixtures, four were positioned on an upstage roof truss and eight on downstage ladders. Nine in total were controlled via RoboSpot remote follow spotting systems for keying and highlighting the three front band members. Challenge Delivering clean, precise and unobtrusive key lighting for the band as the automated trusses shifted through multiple architectural looks during the show. Maintaining consistent, powerful key light over the long throws required by the stadium-scale production. Key benefits Powerful long-throw outputIntense brightness and punchExceptional CRIUber reliable stadium-scale performanceSmooth colour mixing Quotes and references Matt: “A game changer – iFORTES are bulletproof and as bright as the sun! Seriously, they have plenty of punch and have proved super reliable.” Matt: “ The light output is crisp and punchy and it matches all the others in the rig which is a massive bonus for colour temperature continuity especially if you decide to throw a gobo into the gate.” ROBOSPOT – NEW LEVELS OF CONTROL AND CREATIVITY Key Benefits Safer – no personnel working at height requiredGreater creative controlTranscends language barriersIf comms malfunction during the show, follow spot operators can continue uninterrupted just focusing on their target Quotes and references Matt: “Being able to pre-determine when follow spots change colour, turn on / off, strobe, etc is a massive leap forward.”Matt: “Everyone benefits from using this system – not having to call 9 follow spots means I can be super focused on the show and getting all those cues bang on, every night”Matt: “Operators can stay on the target while I do the rest. No more fade ins and fade outs, blackouts and restores or live colour changes. RoboSpot makes both of our jobs more straightforward, ultimately benefiting the show.” iFORTE – FULL-FACED STADIUM POWER Position 72 x iFORTES were rigged across four automated 18-metre overhead trusses, augmented with eight fixtures a side along the stage wings (16 in total in these positions), and 25 deployed as a floor package – on short sections of PRT – around the band. 15 on the front truss completed the iFORTE package. Challenge Providing the essential band lighting and effects across a huge stadium environment, while holding their own against the large LED surfaces. Key benefits PowerfulHigh-quality output and excellent CRIExcellent colour rendering for perfect flesh tonesSuper bright Reliable Quotes and references Matt: “These latest generation Robe products are simply amazing! I will definitely spec them in the future.” iESPRITE LTL – A WALL OF LIGHT Position 96 x iESPRITE LTLs formed a 12 x 8 matrix, rigged on 12 ladder trusses behind the 60 ft wide by 30 ft high blow-through LED screen. Challenge Creating a wall of lighting powerful enough to blast through and also complement the huge video surface, while delivering everything from retina-burning signature looks to more subtle, fluid kinetic effects. Key benefits Powerful output against large LED surfacesSmooth, refined colour mixingStrong gobo selectionFlat, consistent field of lightVersatile beam and texture creation Quotes and references Matt: “The colour mixing is extremely good and smooth, and can be nicely combined with a great gobo set and a really consistent ‘flat field’ of light.” CONCLUSION Across the production, iFORTE, iFORTE LTX FS and iESPRITE LTL delivered the power, precision, colour and reliability needed to match System of a Down’s impressive stadium-scale visual performance space, helping to deliver an ultimate experience for their enthusiastic fans. For Matt, using large quantities of fewer fixture types popular internationally is a major touring advantage, giving the show a powerful visual identity in a package available in most territories worldwide.

ULTRA Europe 2026

INTRODUCTION Robe’s new laser-source GigaPointe made a major statement at ULTRA Europe 2026, with 54 fixtures deployed across the festival’s Main and RESISTANCE stages as part of a total package of 264 Robe moving lights. The fixtures powered the spectacular visual experience at Park Mladeži in Split, Croatia, for three days in July, delivering the punch, speed and high-impact looks demanded by one of Europe’s biggest electronic music festivals. Up to 50,000 Ultranauts attended each day, with a lineup including Calvin Harris, Martin Garrix, Hardwell, DJ Snake, Armin van Buuren, Afrojack, John Summit and many more, and the Robe fixtures helped to ensure the adrenaline pumped and the serotonin levels peaked! THE BRIEF As one of Europe's largest electronic music festivals, ULTRA Europe presents one of the industry's toughest environments for lighting technology, demanding long operating hours, changeable weather conditions and broadcast-quality performance across multiple stages. The key was to deliver powerful, flexible and camera-conscious lighting across ULTRA’s two largest electronic music stages, complementing extensive LED surfaces and laser content for both live audience and broadcast. GIGAPOINTE – NEXT-GENERATION POWER AND PRECISION! Position RESISTANCE: 42 x GigaPointes were deployed around the over-audience trusses traversing the length of the space. Here they delivered powerful aerial effects and sliced decisively through 200 square metres of LED screen.Main Stage: 12 x GigaPointes were extremely strategically placed along the low corners of the two wing sections, below the bottom edges of the lowest blocks of LED screen. This was to maximise their impact in wide camera and crane shots from the field, and combine effortlessly with MegaPointe beams to punch through the entire visual picture. Challenge Main Stage: Cutting through extensive LED and laser content while delivering consistent, camera-friendly output for multiple guest LDs in demanding festival conditions.RESISTANCE: needed to assist keeping the rhythms pumping and the energy surging from off the stage and right into the back of the space! Monumental Liberty Lights

INTRODUCTION World firsts are always exciting and invigorating. Following landmark performances at the Eiffel Tower and during the reopening of Notre-Dame de Paris, French artist and music producer Michaël Canitrot brought his artistic vision to another of the world’s most iconic monuments: the Statue of Liberty. Collaborating with show director Romain Pissenem from High Scream, Michaël became the first DJ ever to perform at the Statue of Liberty in Upper New York Bay with Liberty Lights, a unique production created as part of the celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of American independence. Robe lighting was super proud to be part of the art! Michaël Canitrot conceived the overall artistic direction for Liberty Lights, drawing on the creative vision behind his Monumental Tour, which brings electronic music, visual arts and cutting-edge technology into dialogue with some of the world’s most iconic architectural and heritage landmarks. Robe iBOLTS, MegaPointes and iSpiiderXs helped bring this spectacular visual experience to life, as light, music and monumental architecture merged into a unique performance also marking 140 years since the inauguration of the Statue of Liberty, an enduring symbol of freedom and Franco-American friendship. Watch Liberty Lights: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ujvri0fQvSY THE BRIEF Translate Michaël Canitrot’s overall artistic vision for Liberty Lights into an elegant, simple and impactful lighting treatment that kept the Statue of Liberty firmly at the centre of the visual composition. The lighting needed to integrate precisely with the laser mapping, enhance the monument’s architecture without overpowering it, and provide effective illumination for Michaël Canitrot and 20 dancers for filming and broadcast. iBOLT – FRAMING AN ICON WITH MONUMENTAL POWER AND PRECISION Position Positioned in two rows in the middle of the Statue’s three main base levels, with six fixtures to the left and six to the right, and used as super-bright beams to vertically frame and delineate the monument. Challenge The fixtures needed enough scale and presence to stand up to the 93-metre Statue while remaining precise and controlled, complementing the multi-faceted laser mapping and respecting the monument's protected status. Key benefits Super bright Powerful, clearly defined beams Precise and controllable Flexible Reliable Strong architectural framing at scale Quotes and references Romain: “We needed elegance, simplicity and impact in equal measures.” Ian: “Maintaining the integrity and poise of the Statue at all times was key and the iBOLTS and MegaPointes were central to that concept.” Ian: “The architecture helped establish the best lighting fixture positions by effectively making some natural suggestions.” Ian: “The iBOLTS delivered the defining lighting gesture of framing the Statue with powerful vertical beams.” MegaPointe – LAYERING DEPTH AND ATMOSPHERE Position Positioned on the first and third tiers of the Statue's base to create depth and layered effects. Challenge Delivering dynamic effects while complementing the intricate laser mapping. Key benefits Excellent depth of field Precise effects Seamlessly integrated with other fixtures Quotes and references Ian: “Bright, flexible, reliable sources that enabled us to achieve all the desired lighting effects.” Ian: “Added depth to the overall picture that was an asset for the film crews”. iSpiiderX – ESSENTIAL ARTIST ILLUMINATION Position Positioned at each corner of Michaël Canitrot's DJ booth to provide the main key lighting. Challenge Delivering clean, consistent illumination for the artist while keeping the Statue as the visual focal point. Key benefits Bright, even key lighting Excellent colours Reliable output Flexible positioning Balanced artist illumination Quotes and references Ian: “Excellent for key lighting in this context.” CONCLUSION Exceptional teamwork, meticulous planning and technical innovation from all the production teams – including the film and broadcast crews – combined with an extraordinary sense of energy and historic occasion to make Liberty Lights a truly unique production. Conceived under Michaël Canitrot’s overall artistic direction, the project brought together electronic music, choreography, lighting, laser mapping, architecture and film around a single creative vision, while always allowing the Statue of Liberty to remain at the heart of the experience. Robe has been an enthusiastic supporter of Michaël Canitrot’s Monumental Tour for several years, with its products featuring in a number of previous productions at exceptional heritage sites. With Liberty Lights, this creative relationship entered a new and historic chapter: Michaël Canitrot became the first DJ ever to perform at the Statue of Liberty, bringing the artistic philosophy of the Monumental Tour to one of the world’s most iconic landmarks. Robe was proud to contribute to the realisation of this ambitious artistic vision and to be part of a landmark moment connecting music, technology, heritage and light.
