The fixtures were supplied by Los Angeles based VER, who has recently become a valued supporter of the new Robin MMX series.  

While on the road the lightshow was looked after by lighting operator Chris Smith.

Prior to this tour, Los Angeles-based Cory had not used any Robe products however he decided to use the MMX Spots after a spectacular demo from VER.

“They were great! I love the effects and gobos and they are generally excellent lights,” he comments, adding that they were also completely reliable throughout the duration of their time on the tour!

Ten MMX Spots were rigged over the stage on front and back trusses. The eleventh was set on the floor directly behind Cat Power’s centre microphone position, and used for dramatic silhouette effects and other specials.

Cory took advantage of the MMX’s unique dual rotating graphics wheels, running  them at different speeds to produce unusual and unique looks – in both soft and hard focuses.

He utilised multiple features of the MMXs in each song of the set which ensured that the rig look as varied as possible. It also gave the impression that there were many more lights being used than actually were, realising that a relatively few MMXs can go a long way... combined with a bit of imagination and style!

Cory’s other current projects include Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter and record producer, Bruno Mars, who has currently sold over 6 million albums worldwide.

He's been suitably impressed with the MMXs and is looking forward to checking out more of Robe’s new products in the near future.
